PRESENTERS

Erin Beddingfield is Associate Director of Codes and Policy at the New Buildings Institute. Erin supports jurisdictions across the U.S. in their efforts to advance decarbonization codes, standards and policies. She's been involved in work on GHG mitigation policies in support of governments and private sector clients for over 12 years. Prior to joining NBI, Erin was a Senior Associate with the U.S. Climate Alliance Secretariat at the United Nations Foundation, where she led the organization’s work supporting states in building decarbonization, appliance efficiency standards, and lead by example initiatives. Before to joining the Alliance, she was a Senior Manager at the Institute for Market Transformation supporting cities’ building decarbonization policies with an emphasis on the use of building performance data to advance decarbonization strategies. Before pivoting to nonprofit work, Erin spent several years in the private sector working for AtSite, Incorporated as a Senior Analyst charged with energy load curve analysis and energy conservation measure development for a portfolio of buildings, and earlier working as a Policy Analyst and Project Manager supporting greenhouse gas reduction projects for SAIC/Leidos.

Alexi Miller is Associate Technical Director with the New Buildings Institute. Alexi has spent more than a decade working to transform the built environment through energy efficiency programs, best practices guidance, and policy development. Alexi Miller is the Associate Technical Director at NBI and is NBI’s lead engineer. He brings insight and analysis about cutting-edge technologies and strategies to diverse stakeholders as part of a wide-ranging effort to improve the energy performance of the built environment. Alexi leads several programs and initiatives at NBI including the GridOptimal Initiative, the Public Buildings Portfolio Management Initiative, the Getting to Zero Buildings Database, and FirstView. Alexi has expertise in a range of topics including zero energy and zero carbon buildings, code and policy, building controls, deep energy savings retrofits, and emerging technologies. Prior to joining NBI in 2013, he spent six years at The Cadmus Group. Alexi is a registered Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering in Oregon and is a LEED accredited professional. He is fully fluent in Spanish and conversationally fluent in Portuguese.  alexi@newbuildings.org
