The Agile Workplace: A Pilot Program

The State of Connecticut will present two examples of agile/hybrid work environments developed to resolve unique agency needs. These solutions were developed in 2018-19 but can serve as examples of how to respond to new workplace theories, employee space-needs, and the State’s policy to embrace telework policies.


PRESENTERS

Carol O’Shea, Manager of Facilities Planning, Connecticut Dept. of Administrative Services, c.o’shea@ct.gov
Carol has served as the Planning, Logistics and Change Manager for Dept. of Administrative Services (DAS) Facilities Management since 2011. Prior to this role, for 10 years, and under 2 Governor’s, she served as the Executive Director at the Governor’s Residence. Carol’s role included supervising construction, decorating and maintenance of the building and grounds, and all staff. Additionally responsible for the planning and executing of all State and personal events and managing public tours and volunteer docent staff.

Kevin McFarland, RA, NCARB, Program Manager, Connecticut Judicial Branch, Facilities Unit, kevin.mcfarland@jud.ct.gov
Kevin served as a staff architect and project manager for the DAS Facilities Management Services Division from 2018-2021. Prior to joining state service, Kevin worked in the private sector as an architect and project manager on numerous commercial, educational, and community service facilities. Recently, Kevin has transferred to the State’s Judicial Branch, providing similar services to development and maintenance of state courthouses and related facilities.
