Commissioning: What Owners Need To Know

This Building Commissioning Association (BCxA) presentation will describe the commissioning processes for new and existing buildings. It will also list the deliverables one should expect from a commissioning provider. You will be able to recognize the value of commissioning for new buildings and as well as how ongoing commissioning ensures continued energy savings. Lastly, this presentation will cover commissioning scope and procurement best practices.

The BCxA is an international nonprofit organization, which is a strong dedicated advocate for more than 1,200 members of the commercial building industry, helping them ensure that our new and existing buildings have the best possible risk management, quality assurance, and resiliency. We’re proud to advance best practices, offer a broad range of education and training opportunities, play a leading role in shaping industry policies and standards, and promote the benefits of building commissioning to achieve buildings that work.


Presenters:

  • Lyn Gomes, PE, CCP, LEED AP, BCxA President -- Lyn is the current president of the Building Commissioning Association's board of directors. Outside of the BCA, she is a commissioning coordinator at DPR Construction. She is co-chair for the new IES/ANSI standard on sequences of operation for lighting control systems, teaches classes on lighting control systems, and chairs ANSI/IES LP-8, the standard the Commissioning Process Applied to Lighting and Control Systems.

  • Liz Fischer, Executive Director, Building Commissioning Association -- Liz Fischer has been active in the energy efficiency, conservation, and commissioning industry for more than 30 years. She is the Executive Director of the Building Commissioning Association, an international association dedicated exclusively to advancing building commissioning and the professionals who practice it.
